In 2003 we went to visit a cemetery in Victoria British Columbia Canada. It's best known for its age and number of statues which indeed were interesting. I began taking photos of them all. That evening I was going through all I had taken doing the inevitable, lose that keep this when I came upon the picture of the nun I had taken. Looking at it took my breath away! We all know that statues only have the ability to look inward, no matter how you align yourself with one there is no eye contact possible between you and a statue, ever. Statues do not have dark pupils in which to see with, nor do they have eyelashes or eyebrows. They're lips are usually a soft line with a hint of a smile. They are statues. And to this day when ever I look at the picture of the nun statue I keep telling myself that. It, not she, it is a statue. But always I wonder how She came to be looking right at me as I, through my camera lens looked up into her face.

We went back the next day and I stood in front of her. She stood where she had been, looking inward only. I stepped up to stand where I had been when I took the photo, She paid me no mind, not once did she gaze down at me nor purse hr mouth into the perfect bow mouth she had in the photo....She was a statue.

That indeed is an interesting observation. Do you remember the name of the cemetery, or the city in which it was located. Further, do you have any additional photos of the statue ?

I meant to ask the name of the cemetery, as you are correct, you had posted it in your previous posting.

I believe I located both the statue and the Cemetery Ross Bay, BC. While the photo was at a different angle and obviously a different season ( I like your composition far more) it appears it has the same gaze. It is a beautiful photo.

I did enjoy hearing about your personal experience and love learning something new.

Good for you, and she does look like the same statue, your photo also shows she has a cleft chin! She is unusual indeed!

I wonder if she only comes out with such detail in photos. I would love to see more of her.

It's been some years now since I visited the cemetery and I don't live there so can't investigate further, but it has always been my thinking that it is that she had been photographed that allowed her features to become more than my naked eye took in when I did go back and look at her after seeing her as she is in the photo when clearing my camera card. Maybe it's the lighting in combination with what cameras can capture. I don't know. I just know I ended up with a very unique photo that most people didn't enjoy seeing when I emailed our trip photos to friends.
