I know the smell doesn't make sense with what happened. But I promise it is the truth.
Each person comes into this world with a specific destiny--he has something to fulfill, some message has to be delivered, some work has to be completed. You are not here accidentally--you are here meaningfully. There is a purpose behind you. The whole intends to do something through you.

I don't think anyone doubts you, what is being said is the meaning of a rose smell
"The soul of man is immortal and imperishable."

Amber,

What you are talking about has a name. In the Catholic belief it is known as the "Odour of sanctity". It is commonly associated with a state of grace, or physical absence of sin. According to Wikipedia, here is the definition.

Meanings:

The odour of sanctity can be understood to mean two things:
An ontological state (a state of being), not usually related to an actual olfactory sensation, indicating that the individual possessing it is in a state of grace (i.e., a state characterized by the absence of mortal sin). Usually refers to the state of an individual's soul at the time of death. Some canonized saints are said to have died in an odour of sanctity.
An actual odour (scent or aroma) present at the time of death and for some time thereafter.

Odour of sanctity and sainthood:

The term "odour of sanctity" appears to have emerged in the Middle Ages, at a time when many saints were raised to that status by acclamation of the faithful. In the absence of carefully written records, either by or about the individual, evidence of a saintly life was attested to only by personal recollections of those around him or her. It appears that the odour of sanctity occurring at the person’s death carried some weight in convincing the local ecclesiastical authority to "canonize" the saint – to allow the faithful to venerate and pray to him or her.

Cause:

There is a theory that the 'odor of sanctity' is merely a smell of acetone and/or acetoacetic acid caused by ketosis caused by starvation caused by religious fasting.

Definitely not doubting you, but just saying that is the most curious part because it almost doesn't **fit in** with the rest of the experience.

First off I just want to say that I know no one is doubting me. It is just after I posted this I was trying to find more information on it and am coming out with nothing. And secondly, another thank you to everyone. I appreciated all the help that you all have done with helping me more understand this experience. Google can only get you so far with information.

I could be wrong, because I have never heard any meanings on certain smells and all but, it seems to me like a type of deceiving act... its just an assumption or a theory but could it be possible that whatever was in the room with you that night was trying to send a message? Maybe, either by making you believe that it was good before lashing out on you, or maybe the smell has a different meaning that the ghost was trying to show you. Like for instance maybe they died surrounded by flowers in a bad way, and they were re-living the experience or having you re-live the experience.. If this doesn't sound like it could be something like this then it probably isn't. But I figured I would try and point it in a different direction because never the less I FIRMLY believe that the scent was meant to be there for a reason... good or bad. I hope this helps

That is another good angle... I never thought about the possible deceiving. That thought is just creepy thinking that something would use that type of trick. I know there are spirits out there that try and play like they are evil when they are just dark and mischeivious.

Maybe there was a deeper meaning behind it. A good thought, one that I have to say I will ponder on during the daytime and not before I go to bed lol. Its super foggy right now too! I will be saying a prayer tonight that is forsure.

Since then I have usually prayed, not the typical prayer mind you, but I usually pray every night. Being thankful and asking for protection. Sometimes... I honestly feel like someone hears me. Like it is usually dark in the room, and it almost seems like a bit of a shadow comes beside me. The feeling is calm, and neither of my cats really move. They sleep on the bed with us. Once and a while, they do their thing by staring at the wall, or running into another room like something is there. but never in a defensive way. Sometimes they do kinda scare me, when both sit up on the bed and stare at the same spot wide eyed. When I look, nothing there that I can see.

I know cats are able to see more than we can. I also believe that since most of these occurences have happened I have had cats. Nothing really since. I believe they kinda protect me also. I love them so much. I also have a small statue of Bastet, an ancient Egyptian Goddess. I always have been so drawn to ancient Egypt and also to Bastet and Thoth.

All in all. When I get creeped out or have that annoying feeling, the tingling sensation, at the base of my spine (like now) I put my cross on and say some extra prayers before I go to sleep.
