TOPIC: St-Clotilde abandonned Azylum

St-Clotilde abandonned Azylum 13 years, 8 months ago #1

February 20 2012, my team(Canadian Ghost Squad Hunter) investigate the abandonned azylum at St-Clotilde de Horton Qc. Canada. We return to azylum the next week for more result whit more equipment.

Its history

Formerly called "House of Our Lady of Chesnaie" and built in 1939 for the missionaries of the Sacred Heart. This place was meant to be a monastery, and then be sold and converted to postulate or teaching center. Finally sold again, this time the government has been transformed and converted into a rehabilitation center for mentally disabled.

The first tragic event took place in the late 50s. The monastery was closed following a tragic fire in December 1958 that would have killed three people. Three young boys caught out by the brothers, was smoking on the sly and they have since been locked in place they would have used to get away from prying eyes. It was a room used as a storeroom or storage for bedding. This could explain the cause of the first fire that even at this point, do not go unnoticed given the severity of the event which caused several deaths.

Although we consider this event as isolated, thirty years later, fate seems to always want to harp on this building and against the residents therein. Again, a raging fire will do the top floor of the building in January 1988. This time, nine mentally disabled perish in the fire at the reception center of Ste-Clothilde de Horton, near Victoriaville.

Almost all the victims, aged 32 to 50 years, have perished asphyxiated in their sleep that night. Following these events, the building changed hands again and will be taken over by another religious segregation (Brothers of the Christian Insitution).

Finally, given the damage and the fact that fires have been fatal, repetitive, it seems that finally have decided to condemn the building and leave it abandoned. Since then, many people in search of strong emotions or simply seeking answers or information about this now famous building is visited. Unfortunately more often than not by vandals or squatters wishing to take refuge behind closed doors.
