For those who are on a budget and would like to use existing equipment to detect EMF.
Since EMF is just magnetic flux the primary goal is to turn the magnetic flux into a voltage.
This can easily be done with a small piece of forgotten equipment called the telephone pickup.
Its essentially a magnetic microphone.
Radio Shack still
SELLS THESE and they are about $8.00.
You may need to put some "Banana Plugs" on the end so you can plug it into your multi-meter.
These are also available at
Radio Shack for about $2 for the pair, and do not require soldering.
With this you can connect it to any digital or analog multi-meter (if you have one) and it can detect EMF sources as a low level voltage. Or you can connect it to an amplifier an listen for audio patterns in the magnetic flux.
Another idea for Investigators on a budget.
