They're holding up quite well. Especially as the microSD cards are getting cheaper and cheaper. I've used several models now. But the 720P models seem to be the best bang for the buck so to speak. Also used the 1080p models but the conversion on these is much more difficult. It could just be the batch that I got, but the person who put these together put considerable amounts of superglue on the plastic screw-in insert that holds the lens compartment in. So getting it apart was a bit of a chore.
The down sides are:
1) You can't see what you're recording until afterwards, so you have to guess where you're aiming it.
2) Mounting is a bit difficult, but can be worked around with some stick on velcro.
3) Requires external IR light source.
The pluses are:
1) can be very small and easily placed somewhere.
2) self contained and lightweight
3) can double as a webcam
